Black on thin and semi-transparent paper, with precise red underscoring of the amount, purpose, and date. Highly detailed endpiece vignette of a 4-4-0 locomotive and passenger train at a depot, illustrating flagmen having a conversation by a switch, and a porter pushing a cart loaded with trunks. There’s also a minor railroading vigette at bottom. Very neat purple manuscript directing payment of $30 for mileage.
A great feature of this check is the embossed seal of the auditor, as shown in the second image.
