Returns
Returns are accommodated no more than 7 calendar days from the date of delivery, under the following conditions:
- The item was significantly misdescribed. If so, contact us to discuss. If a full refund is agreed to (as opposed to a price accommodation/partial refund), L.A. Philatelics will refund the full purchase price and pay return shipping, the method to be discussed in advance. Refund will be issued upon receipt of the item provided that it is in exactly the same condition as when initially shipped.
- We warrant every item to be authentic in all respects and accurately described. Most items we sell do not require certification. Collectible counterfeits will be described as such. If you wish to have an item certified it must be discussed prior to purchase.
Descriptions and Condition Notes
Stamps, essays & proofs are described in traditional philatelic terms regarding centering and condition.
Collectible bank checks and other vintage paper items (ephemera) are sometimes described in terms of VF, XF, or Superb as it applies to overall condition and appearance, not centering as with stamps.
Checks and ephemera may not be returned due to condition commensurate with paper age or handling. For example, letterheads and billheads were often folded for mailing. Bank checks, receipts, etc. were often folded by the recipient. When banks processed checks they were often hole punched, cut canceled, or impaled on a spindle spike. Stock certificates were often punch canceled as well. Though expected with these types of collectibles, these conditions are noted in most listings — particularly if they’re not immediately visible in a scan.
Checks issued by mining operations are sometimes soiled and not eligible for return based on such condition.
The same applies to taxpaid stamps, for which repairs, folds, remainder punches, and cut cancels are commonplace and expected by collectors.
All that said, I strive to offer the finest obtainable examples with minimal flaws.
