A Rarely Seen Stamp
Frame printed by American Bank Note Co., black portions by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. Green and black on green paper, red “Z” serial numbers. Lincoln portrait. This is a plate number single, “Z 1” seen in the top margin.
Pre-signed by the tax collector but otherwise an unused, punched remainder. Purple back band as issued.
One punch is just in at the bottom of the vignette. The first image displays the stamp laying, unattached, on a backing of color-matched acid free paper. The second image shows the stamp without the backing.
