RN-C21 Bullion and Exchange Bank

N.M. Gotham (prev. Pioneer Mill)
Carson, NV
1885

$125.00

From the Hermann Ivester Collection

Black and red on white paper. Purple oval cashier’s handstamp another indicating “Stock Account.” The check bears numerous manuscript modifications:

• bank name changed from Agency of The Bank of California to Buillion and Exchange Bank
• location changed from Virginia to Carson
• account name changed from Pioneer Mill Co. to N.M. Gotham

Given the year in which this check was issued, 1885, the RN-C21 imprint no longer held any meaning as the bank check tax was repealed in 1883. A fabulous check due its rarity and all the modifications.

Heavy creases, cut cancel, small tear at top/center.
