Although this check was only partially filled out, we are all the better for it because any additional writing may have obscured our view of the rather extraordinary printing of the C1 revenue. Those familiar with the design will notice that it appears larger than normal, and here’s why… In most examples of Type C, the surrounding filigree appears lighter than the body of the stamp. In some cases it’s so light as to be indiscernible. But in this example, the color depth of the entire imprint is uniform, to a much greater extent than seen in Type C samples or die proofs.
And then, of course, there is the fabulous vignette of Yosemite Falls.
All in all, an exceptional check.
