An extraordinary two-page document printed by the firm awarded the
first U.S. postage stamp printing contract.
Black on semi-transparent paper, printed on front and back and folded to form a folio/brochure. The pages incorporate a total of 17 vignettes.
The outer page is an advertisement of R.W.H. & E’s services, lavishly illustrated with multiple vignettes and currency counters.
The inside page is a price list of their services, including engraving on steel and copper, illustrated with a completely different set of vignettes.
This item dates to January 1, 1854 per the inscription at the bottom of the price list page. Folds and small flaws commensurate with age, all of which pale in light of the rarity of this historic item.
