Pair of Bank of California Checks, R6c & RN-D7 — SUSPENDED

Austin, NV
1871 & 1873

$35.00

Dark green on yellow tinted white paper. This pair shows usage of the same check design by the same company, one paying the tax with an adhesive 2¢ stamp (R6c), the other paying the tax with an imprinted stamp (RN-D7). Given that the check design wasn’t changed for the imprinted check, the space for placing an adhesive stamp became redundant.

Both checks are drawn on the Bank of California, San Francisco, but were issued from Austin, NV. The imprinted item is a high value check, written for the astounding amount of $15,000 in 1873. Small faults.

The checks in this grouping are also available individually.
