It is not known how the CBNC vignette came to be obtained by the printer of the check. The check vignette may have been plagiarized. Nevertheless, the scene from this die proof is the original; a copyright notice in minute text below the scene indicates 1865.
Insigificant small flaws in card (tiny tear at top left, paper clip impression at right) and a small disturbance in the India paper, mentioned for accuracy. Overall pristine appearance.
