Provenance: The William A. Keegan family scrapbook, spanning 1856 to ca. 1903. Three members of the Keegan family worked for the American Bank Note Company, one of whom was employed as a plate printer.
Description: This rendering of 4-4-0 locomotive is finely detailed from cowcatcher to cab. The highlights and shading are remarkable. Minute text inscribed below the scene indicates that ABNC copyrighted this picture in 1873. Relatively large in size, 6″ x 4.5″. The brown paper backing is a portion of the original album page to which the proof was mounted.
