Allegorical female figure shielding a mother and her infant child against dramatic and tumultuous backdrop. Engraved, black on India mounted to thin card, cut to shape as acquired. Subsequently mounted to an acid-free backing.
Measures 7 1/8″ x 5 1/8″ inclusive of matting. The vignette itself is rather large, 5″ x 2 3/4″, and extraordinarily detailed. Various small faults.
