Black on white paper, promissory note for $41.89 payable in 90 days at 10% interest. The borrower, one Peter Elmore, was illiterate and made his mark “X” on the face of the note. This was annotated with “his mark” and his name. There are several notations on the back.
Heavy soil spot at right. However to date we have never seen another example with this vignette.
