This essay reflects National’s original intention for the design of the 3¢ stamp of 1869. While substantially the same as the issued stamp, the denomination numeral is smaller. Perforated, gummed and grilled. HR extends ever so slightly past the upper right edge and appears exaggerated in the scan. Gorgeous chocolate brown color.
