$125.00
A rarely seen, double-sided US Internal Revenue document attesting to payment of a tobacco manufacturer’s bond as required by federal law. The $4000 cost was split between partners Dennis and Ambrose Lamphier of Rochester, New York. Per the schedule on page 2, this amount reflected the bond for having a screw press ($1000) and a cutting machine ($3000) at the place of manufacture.
Seen at the very bottom of the second page scan is an attachment — a certification bearing the signature of Ambrose Lamphier. Behind it on the page itself is another certification bearing signatures of Dennis Lamphier and the two guarantors.
Some condition faults and slight separation along folds.
