Engraved, black on delicate, semi-transparent paper. A quite attractive document, with great color contrast between the large red printing of “1863,” the thin red ms. lines, and the blue R36c Inland Exchange stamp with SON cancel.

Vignette of a long-beaked bird and her chicks, a banner below reading “I Live & Die For Those I Love.” Additional vignettes in the upper corners, and a tiny vignette of a dog guarding a safe at bottom. Measures appox. 10″ x 5 5/8″.
