From the Hermann Ivester Collection

Red on white paper, black manuscript indicating the company name. A high dollar amount check for $3,000 issued to John Spaulding, Sup’t. Spaulding’s endorsement on the back.

A scarce check and a late usage of an RN-imprinted check, as the bank check tax was repealed in 1883.

Typical spindle cut. Small faults including pinholes at left and small piece missing from lower LH corner. Check protector-style punch cancel indicating the whole dollar amount. Nevertheless a highly attractive check with the unusual touch of having a rounded die cut corner.
